Lost in Milk Wood

Volkswagen has launched a campaign to coincide with the debut of the new Golf — which features Richard Burton reading from Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood. It's called Night Driving, and the site features user-recommended night drives from around the world. I think I'm going to add a few of my own.

Delightful!

'Under Milk Wood' was how I got into the life and work of Dylan Thomas. When I was 15 years old I used to go to sleep listening to this Richard Burton recording. I was blessed to be in a production of Milk Wood back in 1994. Now Dylan ranks alongside A. E. Housman and R. S. Thomas as my favourite poets.

Part of my inspiration for my blog's name comes from joining 'Under Milk Wood' and Dylan's poem 'Fern Hill' together!

From the opening of Milk Wood I wonder what my favourite Dylan version of 'black' is at the moment?

sloeblack
slow black
crow black
or
bible black?

As this is 'The Crow's Nest', I think I'll go for 'crow black'!

Thanks for bringing back fond memories.

Well good to hear from you. Funny how you also know my good friend Courtney. What a small world!

My pleasure to be of service, Simon!

How is the play? Did you like it? Is it audience friendly?

Mayday: I know! Small world, indeed.

Give my love to your husband, and threaten him with raw hot dogs for me.
