Amazing: The Lyrebird Song

From the Proceedings of the Athanasius Kircher Society:

This video apparently made the rounds on the internet several months ago, but it is so wonderful that we feel compelled to pass it along for those who might not have seen it yet. Earlier this year, to celebrate David Attenborough’s 80th birthday, the public was asked to vote on a favorite moment from his countless TV documentaries. This clip of the Australian lyrebird was voted the most popular. We won’t spoil it by trying to describe it.

It's a must-see video clip.

Wow! Thanks for bringing that to my attention. So amazing!

I couldn't help myself! I feel bad that I haven't been a little more thoughtful in my posts of-late; that I haven't done strong opinion pieces. But this one demanded to be shared.

Glad you liked it.

Oh... I peaked at your blog, and enjoyed your writing, so I added your feed to my newsreader.

My subtitle for my blog: "The Black Hole of My Existence".

I'm still a bit mystified as to why anyone would read something so depressing, but, hey, misery loves company, so all traffic is welcome--especially if they talk to me while I try to understand the meaning of life.

It's not depressing: it's human.

The problem solving is the soul of the human predicament.

Perhaps I find it depressing because I'm unable to fix everything myself--and while I understand that's an inherently male characteristic...well...I suppose I can't ever admit to being a typical female.

Interesting--I don't think I've ever had a discussion about my own blog on someone else's site.

Of course you can't "fix" stuff all by yourself! What would be the use in that? ... where would love-bonds be bourne? Nah... this is better.

Oh... and speaking of blogs... I asked in your last post who "David" is.

Samantha said...

I know...everyone asks that.

So, long story short: My blog used to be a LOT longer (if you can imagine). David was part of the reason I started my blog. He was 16 at the time. His parents found out that he's been mentioned (because they asked and I'm honest), they got weirded out, and I removed their son from my blog.

However, I staunchly maintain that IT'S MY BLOG, and I can't help it if their son is a part of my life. So I took him out during the hue and cry of the SLT article, but now I'm in the process of putting him back in via a link in my sidebar. And if his parents don't like it, well, I suppose they could sue me for something. I hope they won't.

Anyway, if you're a speed reader, you can probably cover David in about 45 minutes. He should be added before tomorrow.

If you don't feel like reading, you can ask me again sometime.

Am I the only one in the world who tries to solve anagrams in the word verification box? Mine's an easy one this time--make two words from "yuoijnx".

I look forward to reading more about David... though, if they freak, maybe you could give him a nick. That's what I do: Captain K, Pumpkin, PFD... everyone in my blog has a nick.

Oh, and that's just not nice: now _I'm_ going to be looking for anagrams. It's like telling an OCD person that they missed a spot.

: P

Actually, David IS a nick--just not a very imaginative one--EXCEPT that it's the pseudo that HE chose for his love interest...yeah, I'm very twisted.

Sorry about the anagrams thing--be sure to share the ones you find!!
